$70 for dogs and $60 for cats
If an adoption from our shelter doesn’t work out, you can always bring them back. If you’d like to keep them but are having health, financial or personal issues, let us know. Sometimes we’re able to help.
While we want every adoption to result in a forever home, that doesn’t always happen. If an adoption from our shelter doesn’t work out, you can always bring them back.
Absolutely! If an animal would be joining a home with another pet or with children, we’d prefer they all meet before you adopt. We have a fenced-in area for them to meet and staff to make sure it all goes smoothly.
Yes, and we’ll even allow adoptions from a person or family out of state. As long as they’re in-person and the household is a good fit, we’ll adopt to anyone.
We do not hold animals unless they have been officially adopted, in which case we can hold them for a few days.
We want both you and your potential pet to find the perfect match, so we may ask you about your lifestyle–are you an active person or more relaxed, do you have children at home or other pets, do those pets have a yard? We seem nosey, but we’re only asking so you find the right pet, and our friends find true forever homes.
We ask that all our potential adopters interact with their new pet for at least an hour before leaving the shelter to ensure that they are a good fit. However, some adoptions take longer. If an animal has an injury or health problems, we’d prefer they not leave the shelter until healed. If an animal would be joining a home with another pet or with children, we’d prefer they all meet before you adopt.
The easiest way is to come to the shelter, but you’re also welcome to call or message us on Facebook with questions about a specific animal. You may also email us at humanesociety4animals@gmail.com
Nearly all of our animals are found in rural Benton County. Most are brought to us by the Sheriff’s department with whom we have a contract, though some come to us from kind strangers who found them or from families who are no longer able to care for them.
New animals join our shelter almost every day. We see our largest spikes in occupancy following severe weather, the 4th of July, and Christmas.
As a non-profit, we could not function without our volunteers. If you’d like to volunteer, we ask that you attend at least one of our regular walk trainings before you help out. Call the shelter at 479-636-3703 for details.
